John and Gillian Wagner live part time at the ranch and in Los Angeles. John is a local Californian from Ventura, CA who grew up working on his family's farm and Gillian is originally from England but has spent many years embracing California life.

John graduated with a bachelors and master's in physics but pursued in finance before wanting to return back to his agriculture roots and getting a winemaker certificate from UC Davis. They fell in love with the Santa Barbara coast and decided to buy a ranch, build a small house, and adopt a puppy named Rita, where they began their journey with Peake Ranch wines.
